Just before 3pm tones dropped for a report of a building fire in the 600 block of School Side Lane. in the Milmont section of Ridley Twp. Tower 49 under the command of Asst. Chief Burke (49-9B), responded. Along with Pipeline 62 from Vauclain Fire Co. Chief Valpone (49-9A), arrived on scene and reported a light smoke condition on the second floor of the building. Tower 49 arrived on scene and started positive pressure ventilation, while Pipeline 62 assisted in ventilating out the 2nd floor. The fire was contained to a microwave in the kitchen area. The microwave was removed from the building and extinguished in an old school manner, by using local resources to put out the embers. The resident attempted to heat up a pillow by placing it in the microwave. The assignment was held to Tower 49, Pipeline 62, and Ridley 7. Crews were on scene for about 20 minutes.
