Ladder Drills Continue

Tuesday, February 15, 2011  Tonight Milmont firefighters went down to the Ridley Middle School. Milmont continued with our training on Truck Company Ops.,  and worked with 2 other ladder companies tonight. Firefighters were shown several methods of climbing an aerial device. As Tower 49 is not a climbable areal, Milmont worked with Ridley Parks Ladder 07-5, as well as Darby Fire Patrols Ladder 21-5. Crews were given a chance to climb a new ladder as well as an older style ladder. Firefighters went to the roof of the school, without tools at first, to get used to climbing the ladders. Later on crews went up with hand tools as well as descended with them. Chief Donkin from 07 went over general set up and operations of ladder trucks, and showed firefighters how 07-5 sets up. Milmont would like to thank Chief Ned Donkin (07-9) for bringing out 07-5, and to Darby Fire Patrol #2 for the use of 21-5.
